Assignment C
E-Portfolios

Artist’s Statements and Synopses are all part of the TWO e-portfolios (a website and a DVD) that you are going to submit and present. Altogether make up 40% of your final grade.

In your website, you are expected to embed and show at least ONE streaming video clip – it could be a video work or a documentation of a live/ interactive project. The maximum duration of each video clip is FIVE minutes. The website should also contain a minimum of FIVE original works and include THREE artist statements and TWO synopses to introduce and describe these FIVE works. I expect to read FIVE texts but it is possible that you could produce only THREE long artist statements if you take a ‘holistic’ approach to combine an artist statement and a synopsis.

A short biography should be included; you need to introduce yourself by referring to your own creative history.

Adopt your web portfolio and turn it into a DVD. The requirements about video clips and writing materials remain the same. Make sure all the links are checked. You are expected to research the general 'requirements' regarding DVD portfolio submission. The DVD should be completely playable on a standard DVD player.

Assignment E
Outreach Report

You should also hand in the written report to summarize and analyze the outreach experiences you have had thus far. In your analysis, depending on the types of works you have engaged in, you can evaluate your achievement by making references to the following intended learning outcomes of internship/ outreach activities:

Guidelines for you to working on the outreach report

Types of Internship/ Outreach Activities Intended Learning Outcomes

1. Outreach Educational Programs

  • Reflect and apply their creative art knowledge and skills through giving educational workshops and teaching secondary and primary school students
  • Exercise students’ leadership, presentation and communications skills as the works produced in the workshops they run would also be presented to visitors and guests
  • Make difficult theories accessible, adapt their communication to specific groups of audience, teach with care, and learn more about their own views and abilities through teaching
2. Internship at Media Organizations
  • Work in an industry setting to examine their level of media literacy
  • Apply and enhance their hands-on writing, computing, research and multi-media production skills
  • Learn to deliver works which meet the professional standards of the media industry
  • Gain valuable industrial experience through participating in the daily administrative, research and operational activities at the external organisations
3. Local Art and Cultural Events
  • Exercise their concern for society through concrete actions
  • Verify their values in the context of a real organisation’s actual practices
  • Understand the mechanics and procedures of communicating creative works to the public

You may try to use some active verbs to indicate what skills you have obtained during the internship.
