SM4139 Dynamic Spaces & Hybrid Environments
Semester A 2006-07
Course Coordinator: Wesley
CIL Members Involved: Hector, Justin, Linda, Phoebe, Steve, Wesley & Yuk
Navigation: Course Aims | Course Logistics | Class Schedule | Courseworks
Course Aims:
This studio course provides a dynamic and hybridized environment for all final year CIL students to regularly meet among themselves and with all CIL teaching staff members to develop conversations about your own on-going creative projects and to engage in critique of one another’s works. You would do and achieve the following:
- reflect and integrate the various components of your education to develop thoughtful, workable concepts for creative work ;
- conduct weekly presentations of creative concepts , project proposals and samples of work that can be further developed into your Graduation Thesis (in Semester B);
- meet and discuss with teaching staff members who, in addition to participating in critique of their works in progress, would also deliver occasional lectures and topical seminars, presentations of their on-going research and thoughts on recent events and trends in new media; and
- channel resources and learn problem solving via mutual help and critique.
Course Logistics:
Class Hours: 3 hours per week
Class Mode: Topical Seminars + Students’ Presentations
Venues: Screening Room and CIL Lab
In our weekly meetings, at least one of the CIL teaching staff members will spend the first hour to conduct a topical seminar.
During students’ presentation sessions, all students will be split into two groups; CIL teaching staff members will be rotated.
You are welcome to propose your event agenda. Any crazy idea that can be put into our context?
In order to create a more dynamic and open environment, no advisor will be assigned to you in Semester A. During the Christmas break and before the start of Semester B, you will have to seek consent from at least one CIL teaching staff member and confirm your FYP advisor(s). Joint-supervision is possible but no more than two advisors should be scheduled for each individual project.
