SM2227 Arts Administration and Curatorial Practice

Writing a Chinese and an English Press Release to the cultural page

This time you are the program coordinator of Hong Kong Modern Art Museum. Suppose you can realise the show of assignment 1, you need to prepare 2 sets of press release in email format: one for the art magazine and another one for the general news of the newspaper. The one for the art magazines is in English and the one for general news is in Chinese. If you don't know Chinese. You can write both in English. (In reality, both Chinese and English are needed.)

Guidelines:
- The major content of the press release should not be more than 1 page.
- Follow the format of press release.
- Think of how to make the editors of newspaper/magazine use your press release. Interesting? Informative? Impressive?
- This is a piece of "news" writing. Do not make it personal. Try to avoid the words "I" "you" "we".
- This is a formal news announcement which delivers from your organisation. Think of the tone of the article.
- Creative and eye catching is important. Effective communication is also important. The design of the press release should have a focus. You can use font and font size to make the focus. However, avoid using many different fonts and font sizes in one page and make the article not easy to read.
- You might attach a few pictures but the file size should not be too big (not more than 1MB) and make it hard for downloading.

Please place a hard copy of the assignment in the course mail box outside SCM General office (2/F, Yellow Zone) and submit a soft copy through Blackboard.
