Piksel is an annual event, in Bergen, Norway. Super boring place in the west coast of Norway, yet a very exciting festival. Tons of opensource software developers as well as artists participating every year. There're conferences, lectures, workshops and of course live performances.

The BEK center, which is the founder of the festival, developed their own linux distribution for multimedia programes, yet still in alpha stage. It's already mature enough for teaching and creating projects.
