Idea about my final year project
During the long process of working on my final year project, I have been changing a lot about the presentation format and methods but I am still building on the original idea.
The original idea, as seen at (1), is making a live capturing photo and video montage on the participants’ happy and smiley faces so that to spread out participants’ happiness to cheer up the other.
I have changed the main element from photo and video, which are graphical elements, into texts for my project. It’s because texts are more expressive, various and direct means to express emotions. Participants can state and express their past experiences, memories and feelings easily. It is also more flexible and easy to control on the content that they give in such a short period of time. What’s more, it can lower the chance of some obstructive factors like the participants are not willing to act or they are too shy to express themselves in non-verbal ways. This is why I made this change to try to eliminate and limit the uncertainties that may pop up.
Idea about my final year project
The second idea, as shown at (2), is an installation with emotional words projection and balloon setting. The participants can interact with the virtual words that represent their personal pressure; they can release their pressure by simply pressing a button to explode the balloons.
My finalized version, the Textable EmoMemory is a more personal and interactive one. Since it is allowed the participants to type in some text of their “own” stories and feelings texts according to some given topics, not like the second one it can only generate some well-prepared emotional words. So that to keep the openness on the form of design to persuade audience to take part in. Beside an open input, it brings more interaction to the participants as explained in My PROJECT.
Textable EmoMemory
It is an interactive installation that allows participants to interact with their own feelings and memories. Participants simply type in some texts that are about their own stories, and they will then discover more about themselves by experiencing my installation.Textable EmoMemory aims to invite the audience to re-call, re-think and then re-create their memories in a playful way.

Textable EmoMemory
A code-based programmed and interactive installation, created with Processing and used motion tracking as the main technique. It is combining with four parts, input texts, interactions, selection of the input texts and the result of re-creation on the input text.
Textable EmoMemory
The input textsIn my interactive installation project, it is allowed participants to type in some texts about their own stories and their thinkings. By looking back into the past experiences, participants are provided a chance to review on the same happenings with looking from a new angle, re-selecting a new attitude and new feelings to deal with this matter. To seek for what other elements we neglected in the past because of emotional impact, as like a proof reading on our life. |

The interactionTheir texts would be appeared as like as rain dropping. Participants can interact with all these words with their motions, whatever holding them, shelter from them, or ignore them. The interaction represents what emotions the happenings bring to you and how the happenings affect you. Leading the participants to face with the issue, escape from the event, or ignore what it brings to he/ she. |

Textable EmoMemory
The selectionThe participants can choose either collect tool, remove tool or neglect to take actions onto the words as giving a feedback after the interaction. Collecting the words that can be meaningful, valuable and memorable. Removing the words that is no longer affect he/ she any, not important, participant dislike its meaning and wants to forget about it.The tools represent there are many way to deal with on the same issue. It depends on what attitudes and emotions people used to give response. |

The re-creationAfter making the selection on the texts with removing the unwanted and ignored texts, the new re-creation of the original texts would be shown. The new re-creation can be totally different from the original meaning. A concrete example is that, “She does not love me at all” to be “She love me”. Making a new re-creation onto the past memory, feeling would be fun to discover more about themselves from experiencing my project |
